Dear Editor
Regarding the article in your paper [Issue 190] about the proposed sale of the Assembly Rooms and maybe its transformation into a shopping centre, how sad a day will that be?
I remember as a young man of 18 years (now 81) learning to dance and meeting young women of similar age to try and dance the light fantastic on its wonderful dancefloor – reputed to be one of the best in Edinburgh. Those days live well in my memory, for in later years my wife and I danced many a Quickstep on that floor.
My thanks to all at the paper.
God Bless
