BROUGHTON AUTHOR MAY MOUNT LOCAL SALES CAMPAIGN

Submitted by Editor on

Patricia Mackie was born and raised in Bellevue Terrace, attended James Gillespie’s when it was still an all-girls school (‘Jean Brodie and all that’), and left Edinburgh on getting married. She departed Scotland altogether in 1978 when she moved first to Canada, then the Caribbean, then Norfolk.

In 2002 she broke her neck in a dreadful accident at home. Although she eventually managed to walk and even ride again (to the horror of her consultant), she could not keep working as an accountant the way she had before. In 2006 she and her husband moved to a favourite holiday destination, the Greek island of Symi, and have lived there happily since.

It was during the months she spent recovering in a Sheffield spinal unit that Patricia settled on the idea of writing. She enrolled on a distance-learning course, intending to focus on articles, but soon discovered an aptitude for fiction. Now her first novel has been published and the local girl may return to Broughton to promote it.

Not Only Horses, is an erotic tale – or ‘steamy romp in the hay’ – of a young woman’s sexual awakening. Involving horses, insatiable appetites, ample opportunities, and accountancy, it is what cookery books call a ‘winter warmer’. Patricia plans a local book-signing (date and Broughton location to be confirmed). Alternatively, her novel can be ordered through Amazon, £7.99, Boudoir Press, ISBN: 978-1-907407-23-9.
