BROUGHTON SHOWS RED LIGHT TO AIDS

Submitted by Editor on

Broughton St Mary's Parish Church on Bellevue Crescent is lit up this evening with eye-catching red beams.

The illumination marks World AIDS Day, and draws attention to the fact that the church has been open all day for those affected in whatever way who wish to spend some time in quiet reflection.

The Health Protection Agency today said that around 600 people die needlessly from the condition each year in the United Kingdom. It estimates that 100,000 people here currently have the HIV virus which can lead on to AIDS if untreated. Of these, around a quarter do not realise they are infected.

You can find more information on HIV, its transmission and early symptoms here.
