Organisers of the inaugural Scotland's History Festival in November seek immigrants to Scotland to feature in an exhibition of photographs.
'Jock Tamson's Bairns' will study the lives of 'newcomers' from Africa, Asia, Bangladesh, the Caribbean, England, France, Italy, India, Ireland and Lithuania. In fact the country of origin seems flexible, and the date of arrival irrelevant so long as there's an interesting tale to be told.
'The story of the Scots leaving and spreading their traditions and music across the globe is well documented,' writes Curator Clara Massie. 'However, in the "Jock Tamson’s Bairns" exhibition we want to tell the story of a constant flow of traffic coming in the other way.
'They came to work or to shelter from tyranny and prejudice. Through personal photographs, recordings and film we aim to share some personal family stories and examine the rich and diverse culture that has contributed to our sense of Scottishness.'
