Spurtle will host a hustings on Tuesday 9 August from 7.15–9.15pm at Broughton St Mary's Parish Church in Bellevue Crescent.
Although the Spurtle is a Broughton-based entity, this is an event for everyone in Ward 11 (see map). STV will blogcast live from the event.
If you are unable to attend in person but would like to take part, send your questions for candidates to us at spurtle@hotmail.co.uk. The independent Chair will choose from questions submitted by Spurtle and STV readers towards the end of the meeting, favouring bombshells and relevant subject areas which have not already been covered.
So far, six candidates have announced that they are running. In alphabetical order, they are:
- John Carson (Independent)
- Karen Doran (Labour)
- Alastair Hodgson (Liberal-Democrat)
- Iain McGill (Conservative)
- Melanie Main (Green)
- Alasdair Rankin (Scottish Nationalist).
This by-election faces two particular challenges: summer holidays and the Edinburgh International Festival.
